The Hon’ble High Court on wednesday ordered the Lok Ayukta to investigate land acquistions made by the KIADB over the past five years in Bangalore Urban and Rural districts involving 3,375 acres.
The Hon’ble Justice H V G Ramesh, HC Judge observed that, “when there is 18,000 plus acres of land available, what is the necessity to go in for compulsory acquistions of fertile land ? The rights of farmers should be protected. Their voice must be recognised.”
This is real democracy at work. The Hon’ble judge has referred the matter to the cheif justice to treat the petition as a PIL. The industries could look forward in the future for the government to auction the recovered land at market prices.
